Meet our International Interns

We are delighted to have a talented and diverse group of trainees working alongside us to enhance our long-term planning, public relations management, and project management. It is with great pleasure that we welcome these accomplished trainees from all around the world to our team. We are excited to collaborate with them and see the positive impact they will have on our organization.

 

Emma DeCaro

International development intern

Emma DeCaro is an international development intern with Martha EDU. Emma holds a B.S. in public relations from The University of Texas at Austin (USA) and will graduate with her international development M.A. from Gallaudet University in May 2023. She has over six years of experience in the communications and partnership marketing fields and was most recently a diplomatic intern with the Kurdistan Regional Government U.S. Representation. Emma earned a certificate in environmental sustainability and is certified at both state and national levels in American Sign Language-English interpretation (RID NIC and BEI Advanced). She is passionate about Deaf refugee resettlement, supporting diplomacy between the USA and the Middle East, and justice reform.

 

Eli Henriksen

International development intern

Eli Henriksen is an international development intern with Martha EDU. Eli holds a B.A. in Deaf Studies from Utah Valley University (USA) and will graduate with his international development M.A. from Gallaudet University in May 2023. He has three years of experience working in Deaf co-navigation settings. He most recently interned with the International Rescue Committee and Homes Not Borders to support refugee resettlement efforts in the USA. Eli is passionate about advancing DeafBlind leadership opportunities and Deaf human rights in the Middle East.
